TALLINN – The North Estonia Medical Center (PERH) is about to relocate its psychiatry unit currently situated on Paldiski Road to a new complex to be built in the campus of PERH in the Mustamae district of Tallinn by 2023.
"We are currently in the phase of designing the building with the procurement partner. It is still too early to speak about precise timelines of the construction tender," Mairo Hirmo, head of infrastructure technology service at PERH, told BNS.
The design of the new unit with a total floor area of 22,000 square meters will be provided by architecture and engineering office Novarc Group AS for approximately 1.4 million euros. The engineering-structure plans are to be ready this year, it appears from the website of PERH.
In addition to the psychiatry unit, PERH is planning another brand new unit, named Unit Y, with a floor area of approximately 14,500 square meters for its Mustamae campus, along with the reconstruction of the 32,000-square-meter wards unit B. In collaboration with neighboring Children's Hospital, a seven-level parking building with a helipad on the roof is being developed.
The tender for the construction contract for Unit Y, partial reconstruction of existing units, construction of fire balconies for the wards unit from levels two to 12, and full demolition of a temporary kitchen wing was held at the end of last year. Six offers -- by the companies AS Merko Ehitus Eesti, Nordecon AS, OU Fund Ehitus, OU Mapri Ehitus, OU Astlanda Ehitus and AS Maru Ehitus -- were filed by the Dec. 16 deadline. The contract has not yet been awarded.
Most of the planned developments are to be taken into use by 2023.
