RIGA - The outgoing government has been criticized a lot, and many of the criticisms were "probably right", but the government has also achieved a lot, Prime Minister Evika Silina (New Unity), who announced her resignation on May 14, said while chairing what could be her last Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

At the beginning of the meeting, Silina thanked all ministers, state secretaries and their deputies, as well as cooperation partners for their work together. She stressed that many important decisions had been taken by the outgoing government.

For the ministers who will continue to serve in the next government, Silina wished to keep their priorities high on the government's agenda.

Several ministers thanked Silina for her work as a prime minister. For example, Health Minister Hosams Abu Meri (New Unity), who is also a candidate for the health minister's post in the Cabinet being formed by Andris Kulbergs (United List), stressed that this government had managed to adopt many important decisions for the health sector that previous governments had failed to adopt. The prime minister also played an important role in this, he said.

Transport Minister Atis Svinka (Progressives) said that Silina's personal contribution had made it possible to navigate through very difficult problems in the transport sector. Svinka was meeting with the prime minister every week to discuss major projects in the transport industry.

Economics Minister Viktors Valainis (Greens/Farmers) also thanked Silina for her work in the government and presented her with flowers.

Several other ministers also expressed their gratitude.

As reported, Andris Kulbergs from the United List, whom President Edgars Rinkevics has nominated as prime minister-designate, is expected to announce the lineup of his Cabinet today.
