Following sold-out performances in the United States and ahead of concerts in Taiwan, the Oscar-winning animated film Flow will arrive in Latvia with a special live concert screening - the only opportunity for Baltic audiences to experience this internationally acclaimed production. The event will take place on 23 May 2026 at Xiaomi Arena in Riga.
During the concert, Flow will be shown on a large screen with its celebrated score performed live by the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra. The soundtrack’s composer, Rihards Zaļupe, will conduct the performance, presenting a newly created acoustic orchestration that reveals the music’s full emotional and cinematic depth.
The Flow concert tour has already earned global recognition. More than 5,000 people attended the sold-out premieres in Seattle and San Diego, where audiences greeted the performers with prolonged standing ovations. This spring, the tour continues in Taiwan before heading to Riga for its exclusive Baltic appearance.
“I’m very happy that the Flow concerts continue to bring together so many people around the world. Bringing this experience home to Latvia - and stepping on stage as conductor - will be particularly meaningful,” says composer Rihards Zaļupe.
Director Gints Zilbalodis emphasizes the significance of the live format:
“Because Flow is told without dialogue, music is at the heart of the story. Experiencing it with a live orchestra adds a new emotional layer that audiences immediately feel.”
The Riga concert promises a powerful fusion of film and symphonic music - a one-of-a-kind artistic event and the sole chance to experience the Flow concert version anywhere in the Baltics.
