RIGA – Owners of 42 gambling halls have turned to court, appealing the Riga City Council’s decision to liquidate gambling halls in the Riga historical center, the Riga City Council representative Aira Smelde reported.

At present there are six first instance court verdicts, rejecting the claims. Two of them have been appealed to the administrative regional court. In one case the court proceeding has been closed because the claimant withdrew the application.

As reported, the Riga City Council has decided to close 42 gambling halls in Riga over the next five years.
