TALLINN - Estonia's state-owned postal service and logistics company Omniva announced on Thursday that in recent days, many people have contacted them after receiving phishing emails indicating Omniva as the sender.
Since the phishing email is disseminated broadly, it sometimes reaches customers who are in fact expecting a delivery from Omniva or other parcel companies.
This is merely a coincidence, as no data leak has been identified, Omniva emphasized.
The text of the email, in Estonian, is as follows:
Dear customer,
We inform you that your shipment RR680060713EE has arrived at its destination and is awaiting customs clearance. To proceed, payment of the designated taxes is required according to applicable regulations.
Attention: Please pay the necessary taxes as soon as possible to allow for the release and onward movement of your shipment.
