RIGA - The number of patients who have died of Covid-19 in Latvia has risen to 11, according to the latest data released by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control.
Two Covid-19 patients - one in the age group between 80 and 85 and one in the age group between 50 and 55 - died in the past 24 hours. Both patients had serious preexisting illnesses aggravating their Covid-19 symptoms.
Of the 1,364 Covid-19 tests carried out in the past 24 hours 13 came back positive.
Thus, the total number of Covid-19 tests has growth to 39, 336 and the number of confirmed coronavirus cases to 761.
Five Covid-19 patients were hospitalized in the past 24 hours. Of the 42 patients currently receiving treatment in hospitals, 37 have symptoms of moderate severity and five are severe cases. So far, 71 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals.
As reported, Health Minister Ilze Vinkele (For Development/For) said at a news conference Tuesday that 133 people who had fallen ill with Covid-19 have recovered from the disease, and two consecutive tests have confirmed that they no longer have the virus in their system they will be removed from the new register of coronavirus patients.
Based on Tuesday's data, slightly less than 18 percent of the Covid-19 patients have recovered from the illness by now.
