Nomination of candidates for European Parliament elections to start in Estonia Wednesday

TALLINN - Nomination of candidates for the election of the European Parliament in Estonia will begin on Wednesday, March 27, at 10 a.m., the National Electoral Committee said. 

The deadline for the nomination of candidates is at 6 p.m. on April 6.

Before the nomination of candidates, political parties and independent candidates have to pay a security in the amount of 2,700 euros for each candidate.

Documents for the nomination of candidates are received by the State Electoral Office at the address Toompea 1, Tallinn, on working days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The documents can also be signed digitally and sent to [email protected].

Seven members of the European Parliament will be elected from Estonia.

The list of candidates of a political party may include up to nine candidates. Besides citizens of Estonia, citizens of other European Union member states also have the right to stand as candidates.

The elections to the European Parliament in Estonia will be held on May 26. Voting at Estonia's missions abroad is open from May 11 to 16. Internet voting and advance voting in Estonia will start on May 16.
