Environment commissioner chides on legislation

TALLINN - Estonia needs to improve its environment legislation in order to comply with EU regulations, the European Commissioner for the Environment Margot Wallstrom said during a visit to the Baltics.Wallstrom said Estonia needed to update and approve its laws on packaging, waste, nature protection and air and water protection.During her visit on Nov.24, Wallstrom met local NGO representatives and Environmental Affairs Minister Villu Reiljan, who assured the commissioner Estonia was ready to join the European Union.Wallstrom is currently on a tour of future union states to access the envir...
