Conservative Party excludes Vagnorius

VILNIUS (BNS) – The Supervision Committee of Lithuania's ruling Conservative Party decided on April 3 to exclude former Prime Minister Gediminas Vagnorius.

The committee also suggested that Vagnorius' 12 supporters who recently formed the Moderate (Conservative) faction should make up their minds about participation in the new political bloc.

The country's unpopular politician suspended his membership in the party some time ago.

The members of the Conservative party faction viewed the declaration made by the breakaway faction last week as a refusal of membership in the ruling party of Lithuania.

During parliamentary sittings last week, members of the Moderate (Conservative) faction in most cases voted contrary to the Conservative Party faction.
