Fresh data out of Brussels once again confirms a dreadful fact of Balticlife: road safety here is deplorable.The latest report, issued by Eurostat, the European Commission's statisticsagency, cites some nightmarish figures. For instance, 150,000 people haveperished on roads in the 10 EU-candidate countries since 1989. In the eightEast European candidate-countries, more than 10,000 people are still killedannually in road catastrophes.
