Latvian agency wins main ad prize

RIGA - The advertising agency OMD Latvia won the main prize, the Creative
Portfolio, at the Aug. 29 awards ceremony of the 2003 international Golden
Hammer advertising festival, event director Laila Ozolina said.
All in all OMD Latvia received a total of five prizes ‹ one Grand Prix, one
Golden Hammer and three Silver Hammers.
Latvian advertising agencies took four main prizes this year along with five
Golden Hammer and six Silver Hammer prizes. The winners were McCann
Erickson, Radosa Laboratorija, Adell Saatchi & Saatchi, Bates ADM,
Young&Rubicam Garage 4*4, DDB Latvia, Graftona Internets, Domino and OMD
Latvia.
Gemmi prizes for the best social ad went to the Romanian agency McCann
Erickson.
Estonian advertising agencies received one main prize, three Golden Hammer
prizes and six Silver Hammer prizes, while Lithuanian agencies received two
Golden Hammer prizes. Among the festival laureates were advertising agencies
from Ukraine, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Russia, Lithuania, Estonia
and Latvia.
This year 124 advertising agencies from 18 countries submitted 557 works,
including for the first time works from Japan, Germany, Kazakhstan, Serbia
and Monte-negro.
The festival entrants were evaluated by a jury made up of 17 advertising
industry professionals from England, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Finland,
Norway, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine and the United States as
well as the Baltic states.
Since 1994 Latvia's Advertising Association has organized the festival.
