The chair of Estonia's Riigikogu, or national parliament, Ene Ergma is unique to politics for a variety of reasons. After dedicating more than three decades to building a distinguished career in astrophysics, this year the renowned academic and space scientist took up the challenge of entering politics. Selected by her party for the job of parliamentary speaker, 58-year-old Ergma is the most senior ranking woman in the history of Estonian politics.
