Sexism found to be rife in Estonia

TALLINNA recent survey gauging societal views about gender equality in Estonia has revealed that more than 80 percent of people believe women are not treated as equal to men.The survey, involving 1,007 respondents, comprised of men and women between the ages of 15 and 74, was the first ever to establish attitudes within Estonia regarding gender equality.With only 9 percent believing men and women enjoy equal treatment, the findings indicated a general awareness of gender inequality but also revealed an entrenched chauvinism continuing within post-Soviet society.More than two-thirds of those...
