Extradition of OMON soldier to Latvia on hold

VILNIUSLithuanian prosecutors have called off the extradition of Igor Gorbans, a former member of the Soviet militia OMON, to Latvia amid doubts of Lithuanian politicians about the neighboring country's ultimate intentions. "The handover has been postponed for investigative reasons. A [final] decision is to be made on June 20," Vidmantas Putelis, spokesman for the Prosecutor General's Office, said on June 10.
