TALLINNThe social welfare system in Estonia, which has been in place since 1997, is about to get better maternity benefits under the government's three-party coalition agreement, according to the Ministry of Social Affairs.New Minister of Social Affairs Marko Pomerants said some new proposals being worked on would give a working mother her normal salary for up to one year based on an average of three salaries.Under the present system a pregnant woman, if she is employed, will receive her salary for 70 days prior and 70 days after the birth of her baby.
