Slovakia approves NATO treaty despite opposition

BRATISLAVAThe Slovakian government on March 27 formally approved the East European country's NATO accession treaty, despite strong popular opposition to joining the alliance."The values of Slovakians are close, identical even, to those of the democracies of other NATO member states," Prime Minister Mikulas Dzurinda told reporters after an extraordinary government session to examine the membership bid.Slovakian Foreign Minister Eduard Kukan signed Bratislava's NATO accession treaty on March 26 in Brussels, though the document must be ratified by Parliament in April."This is a dream come true...
