Vagnorius leads opposition on Ignalina

VILNIUS - The European Union may be applauding the decision by current Prime Minister Rolandas Paksas to close the first reactor of the Ignalina nuclear power plant by 2005, but there's one former prime minister who is not so happy.Gediminas Vagnorius, who preceded Paksas in the top job before resigning in May, led a chorus of criticism last week. He said the government's promise to close reactor one by 2005 and make a decision on reactor two by 2004 was done without extracting any promises from Brussels to pay part of the cost.
