Last week, the United States asked over 50 countries for assistance if conflict with Iraq becomes necessary. Lithuania, as well as Latvia and Estonia, were among countries invited to help build a "coalition of the willing" to possibly disarm Saddam Hussein. If inspections remain ineffective and a military operation becomes inevitable, the Baltic states should answer the call and contribute.
