Detectives of the Police Service Of Northern Ireland have released the names and photographs of two individuals they want to question in relation to the Warrenpoint double murder reported last week.
Both Lithuanian nationals, they are 21-year-old Vitalijus Sedovas and 18-year-old Julius Aguonis. And both are still on the run and may be back in Lithuania.
Sedovas is of medium height and build and clean shaven, bespectacled, with short brown hair, and has a tattoo on one finger of his left hand.
Aguonis is tall, medium to well built, also clean shaven, with short brown hair and is believed to be marked by facial injuries.
The pair are now known to have shared accommodation in Newry with the two murder victims, and by May 24 it was believed they had traveled to England.
A police spokesman said, "We now think they made it as far as London, and that they left Belfast at 4:15 p.m. on May 13 before taking the ferry from Larne to Stranraer, Scotland, and then traveling by coach to London, arriving at Victoria Coach Station at around 6 a.m. on May 14. But that's where the trail goes cold."
Meanwhile, the silver-gray Mazda 626 Hatchback car referred to in the case is now confirmed to have come from Lithuania. It has the license plate number NKB 057.
Police have since established the identities of the two victims, who had been beaten to death and their throats slit. But these are being withheld until next of kin can be informed.
The officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Superintendent Philip Aiken, said, "This is a horrendous, savage crime. We appeal for anyone who knew the suspects or sees them to contact us immediately."
While the possibility of Sedovas and Aguonis having returned to Lithuania has not been ruled out, anyone who believes they have information that might be of help can leave an e-mail at the Northern Irish Police Web site, www.psni. police.uk
