The European Union's incessant pressure on Lithuania to close the Ignalina nuclear power plant is both unreasonable and unfair.For one thing, the EU is turning a deaf ear to Lithuanian and foreign experts who have investigated Ignalina and its safety. They have argued that Ignalina is no more hazardous than hundreds of nuclear power plants in Western Europe and North America.In addition, the plant is staffed by trained experts.
