Cocaine use on the rise

RIGA - The attempt by Latvian Models Association President Daira Silava to smuggle close to two kilos of cocaine into the country marks a rise in use of the white powder in Latvia, say various drug specialists. "Cocaine is new in Latvia, it is coming in with greater frequency, the question is in what amount," said Vilnis Kipens, head of the Antidrug Task Force.Police first reported cases of illegal sale and use of cocaine in the early '90s.
