Drug trial wraps up, verdict expected

RIGA – At the end of six days of teary testimony from Daira Silava, where the Latvian Models Association president explained how a middle-aged Venezuelan man named Carlos forced her to smuggle three packages of cocaine to Riga, the state prosecutor has asked that the court sentence her to seven years in prison."I didn't obtain drugs illegally. I recognize I am guilty of carrying drugs across the border," Silava told a packed Riga courtroom during her first day of testimony.
