VILNIUS - Demonstrating its potential energy independence from mother Russia, on the night of Aug. 1 Kaliningrad performed operational tests with its isolated power system. These tests were conducted to evaluate the power system’s readiness to work if disconnected from neighboring systems, and whether it is prepared to work in ‘island mode,’ reports ELTA.During the tests, the Kaliningrad power system twice operated independently, each time for ten minutes.
