Recently mass media has initiated the discussion on whether speed cameras have been introduced in order to reduce road accidents, or in order to promote additional income to the state budget. In the meantime, the government must come up with a unified position on the issue of fines for speeding.One can conclude that it is positive that more speed cameras have been introduced in Latvia in order to decrease the average speed on the roads, the number of road accidents and bribery.
