Islanders face costlier connections

TALLINN - Inhabitants of Estonia’s largest island, Saaremaa, demand more frequent air connections with the mainland, and for larger planes on the Tallinn-Kuressaare route, reports Saarte Haal. Saare County ended its contract with Estonian national carrier Estonian Air, which operated the route previously; however, the islanders disagree with a new tender that was announced last week.Under conditions of the tender, the Tallinn-Kuressaare route will be operated nine times per week, but local residents demand at least 11 - one flight every morning and evening on working days and ...
