Legislative change means more strikes

TALLINN - The three-day national strike in Estonia, held from March 7-9, was the biggest in the past 20 years with regard to the number of participants, according to the Estonian Educational Personnel Union (EEPU).  More than 17,000 teachers and other educational workers in 682 schools and pre-schools throughout the country participated in the EEPU-led strike and other strikes.About 50 percent were on strike for one day, about 3,000 for two days and more than 4,500 for three days.
