The Euro crisis was and still is the main concern of the European Union. Meanwhile, the crisis of European identity has been pushed to the backstage, despite the fact that this is a much greater problem than the financial crisis – since 2009 the level of European identity has seemed to lessen. So far, mass media has not focused on why European identity is so weak, or on the reasons for the non-emergence of a European identity.
