Krajbanka forces tax hike

RIGA - The Financial and Capital Market Commission has decided to increase the coefficient applicable to payments into the Deposit Guarantee Fund, from the current 0.05 percent to 0.075 percent, for a period of one year, said the Commission’s representative Anna Dravniece, reports Nozare.lv.Due to the collapse of Latvjijas Krajbanka, the Deposit Guarantee Fund must ensure the payment of guaranteed compensation to the bank’s depositors in a total amount of 344 million lats (491.4 million euros).
