Last August Latvia’s Central Statistics Bureau published statistics on emigration. It reached a record: 2,300 individuals, or 0.12 percent, of Latvia’s population left the country looking for a better life in August alone. Leaving the human aspect aside, in economic terms this is a disaster: in practice, Latvia’s workforce is moving away, reducing the possibilities for development because of its lacking of a workforce.
