Sevastova joins Kanepi in second round

INDIAN WELLS, USA – Latvian Anastasija Sevastova had held off Slovenian Polona Hercog to make it through to the second round of the BN Paribas Open. Playing in one of the biggest events on tour outside of the four grand slams, Sevastova made a promising start to the two week tournament, winning 7-5 7-6 (6). Estonian Kaia Kanepi has been given direct entrance to the second round on account of her 14th seeding for the tournament. Despite a difference in world ranking of 21 places (Sevastova: 38, Hercog: 59) their was little separating the ...
