Once again the streets of Jurmala were littered with luxury cars, designer handbags and silicon enhanced tweenies from Russia as the annual New Wave pop music festival, hailed as a savior of the beach resort’s economy, made Latvians bend over backwards for some extra rubles.This was the ninth year running, when the small invasion took place at one of the most pristine spa-resorts in the former Soviet Union, and it was rumored that Chelsea football club owner, Roman Abramovitch, would visit personally.
