When we save a child, we save an entire life

Our young people are at ever greater risk of violence and marginalisation. Reversing the trend will require action and clear priorities.

The government is currently sketching out its areas of focus for the future, its leading development initiatives. In deciding on strategies for improvement, we must not forget children and young people and the support they require. There is no shortage of priorities competing for funding and resources, but when we save a child, we save an entire life. During the course of their lives, children should be offered the opportunity to make a fresh start at several points. We cannot simply watch from the sidelines when a child stumbles at the first of life’s hurdles.
