The EU needs a stronger Arctic policy

The Arctic is a strategically, culturally and economically important zone that at present is insufficiently taken into account in European Union decision-making, says MEP Anneli Jäätteenmäki.

The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton, met recently with several European foreign ministers in the Finnish region of the Arctic Circle.
