Iceland's Volcano revealed Baltic's Isolation

Iceland’s volcano made it vividly clear how isolated the Baltic States still are from Europe’s heartland. In the absence of air traffic we have a truly poor connection by land routes. If Via Baltica offers today a minimum quality for car traffic, then rail traffic between Tallinn and Warsaw still exists only in the wilder dreams. In this reality there is nothing new. Both projects - Via Baltica and Rail Baltica - have been on the table already for a while but, due to the lack of common interest between the three Baltic States and Poland, we still have very slow progress....
