Last week, as readers of The Baltic Times probably know, Latvia’s parliament, the Saeima, rejected the candidacy of Prosecutor-General Janis Maizitis for a third term in office. The vote was 45 in favor, 47 against the candidate. That was bad enough, because Maizitis has done a great job for the past 10 years.
