Finnish aviation authority Finavia announced Tuesday that Finland's airports would remain closed at least until 9 am on Wednesday.
A Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) report on Tuesday indicated that a new and denser cloud of ash from Iceland is spreading across Europe and is expected to reach southern and central Finland from the west during Tuesday afternoon.
According to FMI the new cloud of volcanic ash is travelling at a lower altitude than the previous ones, but even so it is not expected to cause health problems in Finland.
