Lithuanian Cabinet unveils "Government Activity Report"

VILNIUS -- The Lithuanian government has completed the 15th Government Activity Report and submitted it to the Seimas (Lithuanian parliament) for review.

According to a government press release, the report deals with three major issues: conditions under which the Government began work, its performance during last year and its action plan for 2010.

The report said that the governments main activities last year revolved around "stabilisation of public finance, introduction of the economic promotion package, breakthrough in the energy sector; successful introduction of higher education reform, enhanced cooperation between research and business sectors; implementation of an ambitious health care system reform; guaranteed continuation of social security payments during hard times and support for socially vulnerable sections of the society; introduction of a public administration reform on a systematic basis; resolute fight against corruption."

The Cabinet has also approved its activity priorities for 2010. These include: job creation, reduction in unemployment levels, economic promotion, public administration modernisation and fight against corruption; structural reform of social care, health care, education and energy sectors; rallying society to participate in building vision “Lithuania 2030”.
