Producer prices move higher

TALLINN - Statistics Estonia reports that in February 2010, the country’s producer price index increased by 0.5 percent compared to January, and by 0.1 percent compared to February of the previous year. In February, compared to the previous month, the producer price index was influenced by the increase in prices in the manufacture of metal products and by the decrease in prices in the manufacture of chemical products. Compared to February 2009, the prices increased most in the manufacture of wood and wood products.

n February 2010, the export price index decreased 0.2 percent compared to January, and 0.5 percent compared to February 2009. In February, compared to the previous month, the export price index was heavily influenced by the decrease in prices in the manufacture of building materials, textiles and rubber and plastic products and by the increase in prices in the manufacture metals and metal products.
Last month the import price index increased by 0.7 percent, compared to January, and by 5.8 percent compared to February 2009.
