Committee calls for a ban on semi-automatic handguns, but Finnish police chief says ban would not in itself prevent school shootings.
A committee appointed to investigate the Kauhajoki college shooting in 2008 has recommended that Finland impose a ban on semi-automatic handguns and also made proposals for the tightening of laws governing gun licences.
The committee also called for more school resources devoted to the mental health of students, as well as better collaboration between officials.
