Transport Minister: Finland has forgotten how to deal with winter

Every day now, train delays are tormenting more than 10,000 regular passengers who in practice are completely dependent on rail services.

Minister of Transport Anu Veh-
viläinen (Centre) feels that once this winter's blizzards have receded, steps should be taken to prevent a possible repeat of the situation as early as next winter.

"We've had a long bout of fairly mild winters. Perhaps we've forgotten what sort of situation can develop on the rails, especially given that there is a lot more traffic than there was a couple of decades ago."
