The organisers of the Baltic Sea Action Summit were surprised by the positive response to their calls for commitments to specific new actions to help save the ailing sea.
The Baltic Sea Action Group (BSAG) had earlier hoped to get about 50 such commitments, but by the end of the summit they received almost 150 pledges meeting the condition that existing promises and projects could not be counted as new commitments.
