Croatian media: Finland's Patria bribed Croatian government to secure defence deal

A Croatian newspaper alleges that the country's government, which ordered armoured modular vehicles (AMVs) from Finnish state-controlled arms manufacturer Patria, changed the conditions of a defence contract tender to Patria's advantage in response to bribes from the Finnish firm. According to the newspaper's information, Croatia was paid a 15-million-euro commission, around 4.5 million euros of which is estimated to be so-called "grease money."

The Croatian publication Jutarnji list cites e-mails regarding the matter sent by Patria's former adviser for Eastern Europe to Patria's agent during July 2005.
