The number of working-age Finns is declining and the demand for foreign workers is set to explode.

Finland is facing a demographic time bomb. The number of working-age people is declining while the number of pensioners is increasing. This brings a serious problem to both the public and private sectors.

According to Statistics Finland over the next two decades the number of people aged 15 to 64 will decline by 165,000, while the ranks of those over 65 years of age will grow by 580,000. This will cause major problems as businesses need more workers and the government needs more taxpayers. "This is a tsunami," says Mika Eskola. "Right now the water is going away from the beach."
