Last year's Ars Fennica prize winner Jussi Kivi's artwork is a vivid construction of a memory landscape in which it is impossible to distinguish between reality and fiction. Kivi's works are born from his expeditions and hiking trips to different landscapes. His collection of writings, drawings, maps, photographs and videos creates a composition that is personal, local and universal.

The prize winner was chosen by the director of Tate Modern in London, Vicente TodolĂ­, who visited Finland in October 2009 to view the candidates' exhibition and talk to the five artists individually.
