Part of the Estonian dis-ease is an inability to separate fact from fiction when it comes to national history and identity. Estonian nationalism, at its extreme, imagines a pure stream of Estonian blood, undefiled by other nationalities, resulting in the mantra ‘Estonia only for Estonians.’ Of course there are only a few who openly speak this nonsense, but many Estonians feel it. As someone who is half Estonian I can appreciate it, too.
