TALLINN – The blue-green algae that commonly washes up on Estonia's shores has been noticeably absent this summer, but scientists warn that may change with the warming weather. Andreas Jaanus of the Estonian Marine Institute warns that the recent warm weather and less windy conditions in Estonia may bring a return of the blue-green algae that grows in the Baltic Sea. Blue-green algae are a common occurrence in the Baltic Sea but become much more obvious during the summer months.
