American dolphins on guard in the Baltic

KLAIPEDA (BNS) – Five dolphins, who were shipped from the United States to Lithuania to take part in the Baltic Challenge '98 military exercises, began searching for dormant sea mines in the Baltic Sea last week. The dolphins are accompanied in their search by mine trawlers from Estonia, Poland, Sweden and the United States as well as Lithuanian divers.When a dolphin finds a mine it signals to the vessel, and the divers descend to defuse the explosive.
