VILNIUS – Early on a Thursday morning, the to-ing and fro-ing of stock trading and the noise of 'phones ringing usually fill the halls of the National Stock Exchange of Lithuania.But on Thursday, July 9, the place was eerily silent. Brokers halted bourse trading for a full hour to protest amendments to the law on individuals' income tax, recently passed by the Lithuanian parliament.Should President Valdas Adamkus give his signature of approval to the amendments, individuals would have a new capital gains tax and a tax on dividends to look forward to beginning next year.
