Shortly after the Andrius Kubilius-led government took the reigns in December, the Ministry of Energy was created to deal with the country's looming problems of energy security and pricing. Stagnant plans for a power link to Sweden, a soon to be shut down nuclear power plant and a heavy reliance on Russia for gas leave Lithuania an energy island.
