RIGA (BNS) - The retirement age for both men and women is likely to jump to 62 on Jan. 1 and increase by six months every year thereafter.The changes are provided for in amendments to the law on state pensions developed by the Welfare Ministry and presented to the government July 26.The proposed amendments foresee the cessation, as of Jan. 1, 2001, of payment of pensions to those pensioners who are still working and whose pension exceeds double the amount of the state social welfare benefit - 60 lats a month ($100)) for pensioners and 70 lats for people disabled since birth.The ministry aim...
